Rationale:
Every student will graduate with a meaningful career/life plan and the skills, credentials, and experiences to achieve that plan. Through the programs at OKM, we are committed to helping students plan for their future by providing career counseling, career exploration activities, and work experience opportunities. Please take advantage of our resources and programs! Opportunities: SD 23 offers a range of program options to assist students with meeting graduation requirements, as well as preparing students for achieving their career objectives; such as, job shadows, career conferences, project placements, and volunteer opportunities. Many of the programs that SD 23 offers provides students with dual credits…this means that students get high school credits, college credits and/or Industry Training Authority credentials during their final year of high school. Why Career Training in High School? We know that 80 per cent of high school students do not attend university. Furthermore, 70 per cent of today’s careers require some post secondary education and training. SD 23 offers students opportunities to get a head start on trades and/or post secondary technical training while still in secondary school. |
